Fabio Croce was born in Domodossola / Italy in 1970. At the age of 14 he started his oboe studies at the conservatory “A. Vivaldi” in Novara under the direction of Prof. R. Turola und D. Scanziani and graduated in 1991. Thereupon, he enrolled in a Master’s programme at the Karlsruhe Conservatory of Music and finished his studies there in 1997. Afterwards, Fabio Croce had some further training in Basel with Prof. D. Seghezzo.
As an oboist, Fabio Croce was engaged in the following orchestras:
♦ 2nd oboist and English hornist for the Novara opera „Carlo Coccia“, for the Sinfonietta orchestra as well as for the Sinfonica Italiana orchestra of Torino.
♦ Same position at the Stadttheater Augsburg, Germany.
♦ Temporary solo-oboist with the Orquesta de cámara de Buenos Aires (Argentina).
♦ Temporary oboist for the Southern German chamber orchestra, Pforzheim.
♦ 1st solo-oboist with the police-music corps Baden-Wurttemberg.
♦ Award winner of the international contest of Stresa (Italy) with the trio „Trio di Novara“ and as soloist at the internationals contest of Acqui Terme;
♦ Award winner of the national contest of Tortona (Italy) in chamber music (oboe and piano) and with the trio “LaCroMa” at the international contest of Cortemilia (Italy);
♦ Member of various ensembles – from the trio „LaCroMa“ up to the chamber orchestra.
♦ Founder member of the woodwinds quintett „Notiás”, a nationally and internationally successful group of musicians and of the “Polyphoniker”, an octet of woodwinds musicians founded in 2005;
♦ For more than ten years, Fabio Croce has been an oboe lecturer. He has been an instructor of the oboe, among others, at the music school in Eppingen.
♦ Editor of the DVD „The secret of reedmaking“ (2007) – the instruction of oboe reeds making.
